I’ve always run my holster at either a straight cant or a 15° forward cant. I was having a problem drawing my duty weapon efficiently because the gun was positioned directly on my hip, at the 3 o’clock.
When I drew the weapon, I was leaning hard left to rotate my shoulder far enough to get a positive grip on the gun during the draw and presentation.
After Travis dropped yet another knowledge bomb, I took his advice and realized that a 5° backwards cant on the holster allowed me to get an efficient shooting grip immediately without rotating my shoulder out. I am immediately faster on the draw and my presentation feels more natural then it has in the past decade of working this job.
Take a minute to watch, and see if it works for you! Timaeus out.
